Joint Civil Rights Meeting, Update Meeting #1, and Investigator Training Link
Thanks to everyone who attended the joint system civil rights meeting this past Thursday. The materials from the meeting can be found at this link. The feedback we have received so far seems to indicate the material was well received, and that our explanation of the new process map seemed to make sense to people.
Nonetheless, the process map is only the beginning of explaining the process, and after meeting with Dora Lisa on Friday, we have decided we will need to re-shape the upcoming meeting (Civil Rights Update Meeting #1, scheduled for Thursday, April 18 from 2:30 to 4:00 pm on Webex). In the interest of better explaining how the new process map is to be implemented over the first year of our new regulations, I am adjusting our agenda to address the following:
Overview of Civil Rights Stakeholder Groups
- How do Stakeholder Groups Function?
- Sub-group #1: Case Management/Safety
- Sub-group #2: Support Services
- Sub-group #3: Education, Outreach, and Training
- Related Compliance Areas (including but not limited to):
- Admissions
- Athletics, Intramurals, and Club Sports
- Behavioral Intervention Teams
- Contracts and MOUs
- DEI Compliance
- Military Programs
- Registrar
- Risk Management
- Veteran’s Services
- Others as identified by the system member
- Reviewing the Civil Rights Complaint Resolution Process
- Strategic Planning, Implementation, and Assessment
For this coming (April 18th meeting), we would recommend inviting all four of the key civil rights stakeholders (Title IX, Equal Opportunity, ADA Compliance, and Section 504 Compliance (student accommodations) to attend the meeting. It will be a valuable opportunity to see our intentions behind the stakeholder process and to have it broken down in detail to make operationalization a bit easier to envision.
Finally, as we indicated on Thursday, registration is currently open for all of our upcoming Webex programs and the materials from last week’s meeting include direct links to the registration pages for these events. One link (Investigator training) was not functioning, and it has been replaced here.
