Michael J. Plank
Michael J. Plank of Houston is Chairman and CEO of The Plank Companies, Inc. and three affiliated companies; National Property Holdings, Rail Logix and Speed Shore Corporation.
Mr. Plank is a member and past chairman of the Young Presidents’ Organization, past president of the Trench Shoring & Shielding Association of America and the Houston Equipment Distributors.
Mr. Plank was a gubernatorial appointee to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and was also on the inaugural Governor’s University Research Initiative (GURI) Board. He is also a board member and past president of the Children’s Museum of Houston, and a board member of the Greater Houston Partnership, YMCA of Greater Houston, and a member of Houston Methodist Hospitals President’s Leadership Council.
Mr. Plank received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M University in 1983. He was a recipient of the College of Engineering’s Outstanding Alumni Award in 2019, was named a Distinguished Graduate of the Mechanical Engineering department in 2000, was recognized as a Distinguished Alumnus of Texas A&M University in 2023 and was inducted into the Corps of Cadets Hall of Honor in 2024.
Mr. Plank was appointed as a member of the Board of Regents by Governor Greg Abbott in 2019. He serves as Chairman of the Committee on Academic and Student Affairs and serves as a member of the Committee on Audit. Mr. Plank has served as Chairman of the Committee on Buildings and Physical Plant, as a member of the Committee on Finance, and a member of the Special Committee on the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets. He also serves as liaison to The Association of Former Students. Mr. Plank has also served as the liaison to the Texas A&M University Corps of Cadets and System Military Training Programs. His term expires February 1, 2025.
