David Baggett

David Baggett of Houston is the Managing Partner of Opportune LLP, a leading global business advisory firm focused on adding value to clients across multiple industries with preeminence in energy. Prior to founding Opportune, Mr. Baggett was a Partner with Deloitte & Touche LLP.

Mr. Baggett has over 40 years of professional experience, over 35 of which have been spent in the energy industry in various capacities, including roles in the C-suite and as a consultant and investor. He has served on numerous boards of directors including Marlin Midstream GP, LLC, AMPAM, Genesis Energy MLP, Encore Energy Partners and ERCOT. He is past chair of the Independent Petroleum Association of America Capital Markets Committee and a former member of the Houston Producer’s Forum and the Turnaround Management Association.

Mr. Baggett has been involved in numerous charitable and not for profit organizations. He is a board member of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Foundation and a former board member of the Houston Methodist Academic Institute. Mr. Baggett has served on various advisory boards for Texas A&M University, including the Accounting Department Advisory Council and the Mays Business School Dean’s Development Council. David was named an Outstanding Alumnus of the Mays Business School in 2011. In 2016, David was recognized by the James Benjamin Department of Accounting at the Mays Business School by being named to the initial class of its Accounting Hall of Honor. Mr. Baggett graduated with honors with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Texas A&M University.

Mr. Baggett was appointed as a member of the Board of Regents by Governor Greg Abbott in 2023. He serves as a member of the Committee on Finance and of the Committee on Buildings and Physical Plant as well as a board member of UTIMCO. He also serves as liaison to The Association of Former Students. His term expires on February 1, 2029.
