The purpose of the Texas A&M University System (A&M System) Social Media Guidelines is to provide guidance for our institutions and agencies regarding the use of Social Media Tools for official business. These guidelines serve to bring the A&M System into compliance with the Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR) Social Media Policy. This document is not meant to replace current institution or agency-specific social media policies, strategies, or guidelines; but rather, the document should be used as a reference and where appropriate, supplement current social media guidelines.
Public Social Media Notification Texas A&M University System (A&M System) and its members and agencies should provide a link to the A&M System Public Notification for Social Media. This public-facing document notifies the public of the policy areas that impact the public’s use of the Social Media Tools by the A&M System and its members and agencies. This public notification was created to assist the A&M System and its members and agencies with complying with the Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR) Social Media Policy. In addition to linking to this A&M System Public Social Media Notification, member institutions and agencies are encouraged to also provide links to any other institutional policies which may apply to the public’s use of institutional social media tools.
