HBA attorneys provides legal advice and counsel to the member of the A&M System in the following areas:

  • Research
  • Intellectual property commercialization
  • Healthcare
  • Data, technology & privacy
  • Education
  • Athletics
  • Other commercial transactions (non-real estate/construction)

HBA attorneys:

  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts (OGC approval pursuant to System Policy 25.07)
  • Provide guidance on intellectual property matters
  • Provide guidance on healthcare regulatory compliance (e.g., HIPAA)
  • Provide guidance on privacy and information security matters (e.g., FERPA)
  • Assist with bankruptcy fillings, debt collection claims, and review of write-off submissions (see Collection of Accounts Contracts)
  • Manage outside counsel contracts
