Dedicated to fostering academic excellence and innovation across our member institutions, our office coordinates and supports system-wide initiatives and projects to enhance teaching, learning, and student success. From advancing strategic initiatives in teaching excellence to promoting collaboration on best practices in academic policy, our efforts are focused on empowering faculty, staff, and students to excel in an ever-changing higher education landscape.

ACUE – Scaling Instructional Excellence for Student Success
A transformative effort aimed at improving student outcomes by enhancing teaching practices across its member institutions. The collaboration provides faculty the opportunity to participate in the highest‐quality online faculty development experiences that lead to the only nationally recognized collegiate teaching credential (endorsed by ACE, the American Council on Education). A variety of course offerings are available to faculty across the A&M System. These include 25-week courses in Effective Teaching Practices and Effective Online Teaching Practices and a number of 6-8-week stackable short courses.
Acadeum – Course Sharing
This initiative empowers students by expanding access to courses across member institutions, enabling them to stay on track for graduation and meet academic goals more efficiently. Through Acadeum, approved students from participating member institutions can seamlessly enroll in online courses offered by other universities, gaining access to diverse learning opportunities and filling gaps in their schedules. This collaborative approach maximizes institutional resources and enhances student success by providing flexibility and reducing barriers to degree completion.
Ad Astra – Course Scheduling
A strategic initiative designed to optimize course scheduling and resource allocation across its member institutions. By leveraging advanced analytics and data-driven insights, the project helps universities identify opportunities to align course offerings with student demand, ensuring students have access to the classes they need to stay on track for graduation. This initiative supports institutional efficiency, improves student outcomes, and enhances the overall academic experience by reducing scheduling conflicts, minimizing bottlenecks, and maximizing the use of institutional resources.
AASCU – Student Success Intensive (SSI)
A comprehensive student success initiative in partnership with the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU) to implement data-informed strategies that improve academic outcomes for students. By promoting institutional innovation and sharing best practices across the system, the initiative seeks to enhance support structures that help students reach their full potential.
Coursera – College of Business Pilot Program
A year-long pilot initiative that seeks to integrate industry-recognized microcredential certificates into the curriculum of business programs at participating member institutions. Designed to enhance student skills and employability, the pilot leverages Coursera’s Career Academy and Guided Projects to align academic programs with workforce demands. Currently, five member institutions are participating: Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, West Texas A&M University, Texas A&M International University, and Texas A&M University-Texarkana. The initiative provides access to over 40 professional certificates, offering flexible, career-focused learning opportunities. By complementing existing coursework, the program aims to equip students with practical, in-demand competencies for success in today’s competitive job market.
Grow with Google – Colleges of Liberal Arts & Sciences, Colleges of Education, & Career Centers
The Grow with Google Pilot Initiative, funded by the National Association of Higher Education System Heads (NASH), focuses on integrating Google Career Certificates into the curricular and extracurricular programming of Colleges of Liberal Arts & Sciences, Colleges of Education, and Career Services across member institutions. This initiative aims to enhance student employability by aligning Google’s industry-recognized micro-credentials with academic programs, equipping students with practical, workforce-ready skills in project management, UX design, and AI. Through strategic curriculum design, faculty engagement, and institutional alignment, the pilot initiative ensures that the certificates complement existing learning outcomes while preparing students for the demands of the modern labor market. By leveraging technology and fostering collaboration among faculty, career services, and industry partners, the initiative provides students with a competitive edge, bridging the gap between academic knowledge and career readiness.
Grammarly – Pilot Program to Support Academic Success
A year-long pilot partnership to provide robust writing support tools for students and faculty across its 11 universities. This initiative aims to improve academic success by addressing writing challenges in high DFWI (Drop, Fail, Withdraw, Incomplete) undergraduate courses and enhancing faculty support. Funded by System leadership, the pilot emphasizes collaboration, targeted integration, and the use of Grammarly’s advanced writing tools and new AI features to foster better outcomes for both students and educators. By integrating these tools into courses and campus services, the initiative seeks to foster academic success and improve overall writing proficiency.
ReUp – Recovery of Stopped-Out Student
A targeted effort to support students who have paused their education and help them return to complete their degrees. Partnering with ReUp Education, this initiative leverages data-driven insights and personalized outreach to identify and reengage stopped-out students, providing them with the guidance, resources, and support needed to overcome barriers and successfully re-enroll. By focusing on this critical student population, the initiative not only fosters individual success but also strengthens institutional retention and graduation rates, contributing to the system’s commitment to student success and degree completion.
