As Chief of Staff, Smalley coordinates and assists in the operational functions of the System Offices. She also is responsible for facilitating communication and interaction between the Chancellor, his executive committee, chief executive officers of System members, and external individuals.
Smalley provides the Chancellor daily assessment, advice, and recommendations on issues within the A&M System and System Offices. Her duties include working to establish and implement Systemwide initiatives, including oversight of the following A&M System functions: Human Resources, Communications, Policy, Planning and Training, Equal Opportunity, and Special Projects. She and her staff also handle special events for the Chancellor and oversee System building issues.
