News from FAMIS (April 2008)

Change / Enhancement Requests

Whenever you need a change or enhancement made to a process, database or table values, a change / enhancement request is required. These C/E requests are to be submitted using the form on our FAMIS web site.

If you are authorized to request changes / enhancements, the request will be processed by FAMIS Services. If you approve of the request, forward the email message to famishelp@tamu.edu with your comments that it is approved.

If you are not authorized, you will need to select an authorized requestor for your campus/agency from the drop down list on the form and a copy of your request will be submitted to that person for approval. After clicking on the "Send to FAMIS Services" button, you will receive a copy of the email request, the person you selected will receive a copy for their approval, and a copy of the request will be sent to FAMISHELP. It is not necessary for you to forward your copy to the authorized requestor or to FAMISHELP.


CANOPY Help

Help and documentation is available within CANOPY.

Click on CANOPY on the navigation menu, then click on the link on the CANOPY page that says “Help using CANOPY”.  After you log in you will see information about CANOPY that you may find useful.

We will be working on publishing some instructional video clips that users can access on the website.  In addition, we offer the Live Meeting type sessions for a group of users.


Changes to CANOPY

Several new features have been added to CANOPY. You may read more about the following changes by logging into CANOPY and clicking on the System tab and then the "Release History" link:

  • Bank information
    • Search for banks
    • Summary information
    • Transactions and details
  • Indirect Transaction Search
    • View list of all indirect transactions for an account (similar to Screen 18)
    • The indirects for each detailed transaction is also available (similar to Screen 23)
  • Customizable User Profile
    • The Routing Profile and the System Profile have been merged into one page, the "System User Profile" page
    • Customize Canopy System Profile Settings to effect the display.
  • Payroll Search By UIN
    • Search by UIN (similar to Screen 770)
    • Use the payroll button in the details section to see Payroll by UIN or Account for the selected person
  • PDF version of a Routed Document
    • Documents can be downloaded and printed in PDF form by clicking on the PDF logoPDF
    • The document history is abbreviated to just approval actions
    • In most cases the document will print on one page, except where there are extra long notes, multiple source lines, or complex routing approvals
  • Other Enhancements
    • Object code description is now included on the Account Summary panel for Routed Purchase documents.
    • Added Help for Routing profiles.
  • Bug fixes
    • Fixed the my favorites, phantom empty display.
    • Repaired paging problem when sorting columns.
    • New confirmation message when crossing revenue and expense accounts on a DBR.
    • Correct potential occurrences of the “Object reference not set to an instance of an object" error.
