News from FAMIS (September 2009)

FAMIS / Maestro Sponsor Changes

Effective 8/4/09, new Sponsor requirements were added to the FAMIS SPR module as a result of collaboration between FAMIS and Maestro, the new Integrated Research Administration System that is currently being developed. In order for Maestro to consistently report research activity between Members of the Texas A&M University System and the Texas A&M Research Foundation, a Maestro sponsor consolidation group has developed a common Maestro Sponsor table that currently contains all active sponsors used by TAMRF (Research Foundation), FAMIS System Members, and EPIK (TEES) during the past five years.

Sponsors will not be able to be added to FAMIS unless they have a corresponding Maestro Sponsor ID. Additionally, FAMIS sponsors that are blank or are linked to the all 9s (UNKNOWN) Maestro ID will not be able to be attached to any project (SPR Screen 111).

In order to create a new FAMIS sponsor number or to assign a Maestro ID to an existing FAMIS sponsor, look for the Maestro number in FAMIS using SPR Screen 4. Position your cursor on the "Maestro" field, press the PF2 key, type in the sponsor's name and press ENTER. All Maestro sponsors whose name contains the name entered will appear.

  • If you find the Maestro sponsor you are looking for, setup the FAMIS sponsor as usual and type the Maestro sponsor number in the "Maestro" field.
  • If you do not find the sponsor in the Maestro lookup table, you will need to request that a new Maestro sponsor number be created.

If you have questions or need help, contact Valli Kannappan at TEES (979-458-7732).
