Office of the Chancellor

Mike McKinney

For many years—long before being named chancellor in November 2006—I have respected the A&M System and what it stands for. As a family physician, academic and business administrator and former member of the Texas Legislature, I have seen firsthand how the A&M System adds value to the lives of Texans.  This value is best illustrated through teaching, research and outreach performed by dedicated faculty and staff throughout the state.

For the students at our nine universities and health science center, this means interacting with top-notch professors and fellow students who reflect the intellectual and ethnic diversity of our great state, while building the skills that will lead to success both on and off the job.

For the faculty and staff at our seven agencies who have a presence in 248 of our state’s 254 counties, this means working with some of the brightest minds in the country to expand the frontiers of knowledge and help drive the Texas economy.

And for all Texans, this means safer highways, cleaner drinking water, stronger businesses, heartier crops, more effective medicines . . . and the list goes on and on.

Thank you for visiting our website. You’re just a few mouse clicks away from learning more about how the A&M System adds value every day.
